Koji Murata
Koji Murata is currently President of Doshisha University, Kyoto.
President Murata holds his B.A. in Political Science from Doshisha University, M.A. in Political Science from Kobe University, Kobe, Japan, and Ph.D. in Political Science from Kobe University. Dr. Murata also holds his M.Phil. in Political Science from the George Washington University where he studied as a Fulbright student from 1991 to 1995.
Professor Murata received various awards: the Yomiuri Merit Award for New Opinion Leadership; the Shimizu Hiroshi Award from the Japanese Association for American Studies; the Yoshida Shigeru Award; the Suntory Academic Award.
Professor Murata’s specialties include the history of US-Japan alliance, Japanese foreign and defense policy, and American foreign policy in East Asia.
Dr. Murata is an author of four books in Japanese and many articles and chapters both in Japanese and English. He is also a frequent commentator for Japanese newspapers and TVs.
